Ed Sheeran

You can’t live without music ? You’re always searching for new artists ? You like a song with a good message and meaning to it ? Well, if that’s the case, I invite you to discover this great artist that I absolutely love : Ed Sheeran. He is a singer and songwriter, who you might know because of his ginger hair, which is his trade mark.

Ed was born in West-Yorkshire, England in 1991. Since his early age, he has played music and sang. He released his first EP The Orange Room while he was still at school, in 2005 ; he also had two albums out by the age of sixteen !

In 2008, at seventeen years old, Ed moved to London to pursue his musical career and play at every venue he could; to him there was not a single venue that was too small : he would play anywhere. One of his idols, James Morrison, once played two hundred gigs a year, Ed managed to beat him by playing three hundred and twelve shows in one year, in 2009, while continuing to write more and more songs.

Ed then played in Los Angeles at a lot of open mic nights and was spotted by Jamie Foxx, who was really impressed by the ginger’s talent, so impressed that he let him come to his studio to record some more songs.

When he came back to England, he started to break through by uploading videos on YouTube where he gained a lot of fans. This is approximately when he released his single The A Team which quickly reached the top of the UK charts. Afterwards, he became even more famous and started to be invited in big shows in the UK to do some interviews. He quickly became respected in the music industry by his peers, like One Direction, for whom he wrote a couple songs. He also made a duet with country pop singer Taylor Swift, and has been touring the world with her for the past year.

His album which made him famous is named + and was released in September 2011 and reached the top of the UK charts. In 2012, Sheeran won two BRIT awards for Best British Breakthrough and Best British Male Solo Artist. During that year, he also performed at the London Olympics closing ceremony.

Ed Sheeran is currently one of my favorite artists; I find his songs very powerful and really well written. I discovered him two years ago I think, through a TV show : Vampire Diaries. One of his songs named Give Me Love was played during the episode and I really liked it so I looked it up and found the great artist that is Ed Sheeran.
