ROBERT DE NIRO IS THE ONE
Robert Mario de Niro is an American actor and movie producer, very famous for his facial expression and of course his acting skills. Robert Mario De Niro Jr. was born on 17 August 1943. His father was an abstract expressionist half Italian half Irish painter while his mother was of half German ancestry, with her other roots being Dutch, English, French, and Irish. He grew up in the areas of Greenwich Village and Little Italy New York.
He starred in more than 90 movies, and some very far famed like The Godfather, Once upon a time in America, Cape Fear and also Taxi Driver and many others… And he became the first actor to win an Academy Award speaking mainly a foreign language. Moreover, he and Marlon Brando, who played the older Vito Corleone in the first film, are the only actors to have won Oscars for portraying the same fictional character.
He collaborated with many well-known producers like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola or even Sergio Leone. I personally love this man because he feels his characters and makes the movie sensitive, gloomy, sometimes scary, but also funny. You also know him for his specificities of language. Taxi Driver was particularly important to De Niro’s career; his iconic performance as Travis Bickle catapulted him to stardom and forever linked his name with Bickle’s famous “You talkin’ to me?” monologue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e9CkhBb18E) , which De Niro largely improvised… Sometimes rude and aggressive it is like he really is Vito Corleone, Travis Bickle or Jake LaMotta.
As a Sicilian, I feel concerned by the Godfather’s movies because it treats some subjects that I know, such as the Sicilian mafia, the landscapes and the language. I’ve been to some of the villages shot in the movies and I watched the 3 movies multiple times and I really really enjoyed the famous actors. Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, John Cazale and Robert de Niro were, to me the best actor’s choice to play those iconic “maffiosi”.
He also played in films with mass appeal like Meet the Parents or Limitless with Bradley Cooper. The Intern with Ann Hathaway was released on 25 September 2015. In this movie, De Niro plays the new intern even if he is retired. This new movie had a budget of $40 million and made in box office $72million.
