The Veronicas is an Australian band composed of twins, Jessica and Lisa Origliasso. They released their first album in 2005 called The Secret Life of… , another one in 2007 called Hook Me Up, and their new album will be released soon, in a few weeks. This one will be called Life On Mars.
Their second album was certified Gold after a week only and since then has gone two times platinum, and people are really looking forward to hearing the next songs they will release.
I discovered them by chance on Internet, and I fell in love with them immediately with their song “Lolita” and its acoustic version which is a mash-up with Justin Bieber’s song “As Long As You Love Me”. Whereas their first songs were a bit too commercial and not “musical” enough for me, I listened to a few songs taken from their upcoming album and it really blew me off, there is a lot more rock than in the songs of their first albums.
I spent a really long time trying to recognize each of them because they are twins so they really look alike and after a few weeks of watching their clips everyday I am finally able to differentiate them, which I’m actually really proud of. Jessica is my favorite one, her voice is softer and I like her way of dressing better than her sister’s but I like them both. Besides, they’re absolutely adorable during their interviews, with their Australian accent and the fact that they seem to be really close ; it’s endearing to see them both understand each other without even talking.
They chose their name as a reference to the comic character Veronica Lodge after they watched the movie Heathers because they thought this character had a real attitude, however Archie Comics launched legal action against them.
They appeared in the TV show “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”, and one of their songs, “When It All Falls Apart” was apparently recorded in Simlish and featured in the Sims 2 (Though I will never understand how people can record a song in Simlish…).
They have recently showed a few tracks which will be in their next album such as “Dead Cool” which is a dead cool song. I can’t wait until their new album comes out, the few extracts of it show that they have taken maturity in their music and they have gone down a lot more rock’n’roll path!
